Classroom or online business classes?

I’m 22 and I went to a community college but never went really. I got a 20 – 35 hr a week job and I got a baby that is due in three months. In ya’lls opinion, should I take business classes for college online or in the classroom. My parents will be paying for it but they won’t let me go back to the community college I went to last time becasue I didn’t do anything. I’m serious this time but I don’t no what to do. I’m real busy but I think classroom classes would help for interaction, etc ..

Also, if I do take college business classes online. What online college or whatever would be the best? Which degree for business should I go for?

I have recently enrolled with the Univ of Phoenix online. I’ve heard mixed reviews about the school, but I’ve been doing well in my classes and it works for me. (I’m 28 by the way.) Online works better for me because I have a 9-5 job, a husband, child, and house to take care of. I don’t have to worry about sitting in a class after working all day and take time away from my family.

It takes a lot of discipline though; I do spend a considerable amount of time online. But the advantages are better when you can stay home and take care of your baby, attend class online when the baby is asleep or first thing in the morning before work…it depends on whatever time you prefer.

I would tell you to research the different online programs to see which is better for you. Most major colleges and universities offer online degree programs. Also, UOP is very expensive so look into other schools for financial reasons as well. I am studying Human Services with the UOP for my Associate’s and once I’m done I’ll take it to a University to finish my Bachelor’s.

It’s always good to start with an Associate’s program with whatever school you choose. That way you can decide if you want go somewhere else after you graduate, then you can study something else and have a degree in another field, in addition to the Associate’s you already have. Good luck!

If you are considering taking classes online you should look into the “Big 3″, a group of public state-run schools in the northeast. They all operate entirely online, so you can use them from where ever you are located. They are Excelsior in NY, Thomas Edison State College in NJ and Charter Oak State College in CT.

I personally recommend Charter Oak State College since they tend to be the most affordable and they specialize in transferring your existing credits so that your time in community college won’t be wasted.
