How hard is it to find a Finance related job in Southern California?
My wife is being relocated to Los Angeles, California permanently which requires me to leave my current Finance job in Manhattan, New York. I have a BS in Finance and +2 years working in the financial industry. Working in the financial industry, I know California’s economy is one of the worst in the U.S. however I would like to get the opinion of locals on the job market, specifically the financial job market.

It’s amazing. My dad is in the finance field as well; he’s a finance manager. Yes the job market is terrible but since both you and my dad are in finance related jobs there are usually more jobs open to you guys. However, that does not mean it’s not difficult to find a job. My dad has been looking for about 2 years with almost no responses. However, this week has been a bit luckier. I’m hoping my dad finds one. All I can tell you is look EVERYWHERE on the internet. Everyone resorts to the main sites like monster and career builder. DO NOT only look for a job on those sites alone. Check all job sites and perhaps you might find a job. Don’t be discouraged if you don’t find one for some months. 7 months is usually the average around here so i’ve heard. Good luck!
